Features
Everything you need.
Nothing you don't.
One screen for the whole fleet, and enough detail underneath it to settle an argument about where a van was at half past two on a Tuesday.
Live map
Every vehicle's position, speed and heading, updating every ten seconds. Works on a phone as well as it works on a desk.
Route replay
Play back any journey from any day, with stops, durations and speeds. Twelve months of history as standard.
Geofences
Draw a boundary around a depot, a site or a customer's yard, and get told when a vehicle arrives, leaves, or moves out of hours.
Mileage reporting
Business and private mileage separated and exportable, so expenses and HMRC records stop being a monthly guessing game.
Driver behaviour
Harsh braking, acceleration, cornering, speeding and idling — scored per driver, so you can evidence a conversation.
MOT & tax lookups
Live DVSA MOT history and DVLA vehicle records against every registration, so compliance sits in the same place as the tracking.
Alerts that reach you
Email or push notifications for movement out of hours, ignition on, tow-away, low battery or a unit that stops reporting.
Who it's for
Fleets of three,
or three hundred.
Van fleets
Trades, service engineers and couriers. Prove attendance, cut fuel, and answer "where's my engineer" without a phone call.
Plant & machinery
Battery trackers on diggers, generators and site cabins. Movement alerts out of hours are usually the first sign of a theft.
HGV & logistics
Longer routes, tighter margins. Delivery evidence, driver hours context and idling reporting across the whole run.
Grey fleet
Staff using their own cars on company business. Plug-in units, per-journey classification and clean mileage claims.
Hardware
Three ways to fit it.
Every unit is fitted and commissioned by our engineers, and moved between vehicles free of charge as your fleet changes.
Hardwired
Concealed and wired to the vehicle's supply. The option to choose if theft recovery matters.

Why us
We built the server.
So we can change it.
Most tracking companies are a sales layer sitting on somebody else's platform. Ask them for a change and they have to ask someone else, and the answer comes back no. We designed, own and operate ours — so if you need a report, a field, an alert or an integration that doesn't exist yet, we can go and build it.
Changes in days, not quarters
No vendor to petition, no change-request process, no roadmap queue behind three hundred other customers. You describe what you need and we tell you honestly whether we can build it and when.
Your data stays yours
Hosted on European infrastructure we own and operate. Export everything whenever you want, and we delete it on request. We don't sell insights on to insurers or anyone else.
No long lock-in
Rolling 30-day terms after the first year, and a person answers when you call — the same team that fits the units and runs the platform.
Vehicle records
MOT and tax status,
on the same screen.
The dashboard looks up DVSA MOT history and DVLA vehicle records live from the registration. Test dates, advisories, recorded mileage and tax status sit next to the vehicle you're already tracking — instead of in a spreadsheet somebody updates when they remember.
MOT due dates
Expiry dates across the whole fleet, with reminders before they land, so nothing goes out untested.
Advisories & failures
Previous advisory notes and failure reasons, so you know what the tester flagged last time before it becomes an MOT failure.
Recorded mileage
Odometer readings from every test, cross-checked against tracked mileage — useful for lease returns and for spotting a discrepancy.
Tax & registration
Tax status, first registration date, engine and fuel details pulled straight from the DVLA record.
MOT test history is provided by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency. Vehicle details are provided by the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency. SWX Locate is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by DVSA or DVLA.

FAQs
Questions we get asked.
Do I have to tell my drivers?
Yes. Vehicle tracking processes personal data about your drivers, so under UK GDPR you need a lawful basis, a clear policy and a privacy notice explaining what's collected and why. We give you a template policy to adapt, and the system can be set to stop tracking outside working hours on vehicles that go home with a driver.
What happens when a vehicle goes out of mobile coverage?
The unit stores positions on board and uploads the gap as soon as it reconnects, so the route history fills itself in. You'll see a short delay on the live map rather than a hole in the record.
Can I move a tracker to a different vehicle?
Yes, at no charge. OBD units take a minute and you can do it yourself. Hardwired units need an engineer, and we'll book that in as part of your subscription.
Will it drain the vehicle battery?
No. Hardwired units draw a few milliamps in sleep mode and cut out before they could affect starting. Battery asset trackers are self-contained and don't touch the vehicle at all.
What happens to my data if I leave?
You can export your full history at any point during the contract, and we delete your data on request once the account closes. There's no charge for either and nothing is held hostage.
Do you install outside the London area?
Get in touch and tell us where you're based. For fleets outside our normal patch we can ship OBD units for self-fit, or arrange a fitting visit if the numbers justify it.
